What kind of trouble can a monkey and a trucker get into? This classic series explores just that!

BJ McKay was a good-looking young trucker who traveled around the country in his big red & white rig, with a single companion - his pet chimp, Bear.

B.J. was based in rural Georgia and was confronted by a succession of corrupt local sheriffs - Elroy P. Lobo (who was later given his own series, Lobo); Sgt. Wiley of Winslow County and his two fellow lawmen, Sheriffs Cain and Masters.

The only honest cop B.J. seemed to encounter was the Fox, who spent much of her time trying to trap the crooked local cops.

Tommy was a lady trucker friend and Bullets ran the local hangout, the Country Comfort Truck Stop.

In 1981, B.J. settled down to run a trucking business in Los Angeles called Bear Enterprises. His new adversary was Rutherford T. Grant, a corrupt politician who headed the state Special Crimes Action Team. Grant was a silent partner in TransCal, the largest trucking firm in California and stopped at nothing to stomp out potential competition. Because of Grant's intervention, B.J. found it impossible to get regular truck drivers to work for him and had to settle for a crew of 7 young, beautiful lady truckers, including a pair of identical twins and Grant's daughter, Cindy.

What an amazing DVD Set for the BJ and the Bear Fan!

B.J and the Bear, the American comedy series was broadcasted on NBC in 1979 and continued to run till 1981. Starring Greg Evigan and Calude Akins as main lead, the series was created by Christopher Crowe and Glen A. Larson.

Plot Summary:

The title role B.J. (Billie Joe) McKay was played by Greg Evigan. He was a trucker who had professional freelance job of driving in country highways. He used to drive his red & white Kenworth K-100 cab and was always accompanied by his pet chimpanzee named Bear.

The name of Bear came from Bear Bryant, who was a famous Alabama football coach. Hence, the bear had the similar headwear. B.J had tough times from Sheriff Elroy P. Lobo (played by Claude Akins). B.J was constantly harassed on highways from sheriff. The character of sheriff Lobo became so popular that a separate spun off show was created by name of “The Misadventures of Sheriff Lobo”. Ben Cooper’s character appeared in both of the shows.

In the later episodes of the show, B.J started his own trucking company by the name of Bear Enterprises. The corrupt Rutherford T. Grant, played by Murray Hamilton, appeared as nemesis to B.J who was head of the state's Special Crimes Action Team. He was illegally partner of a trucking company competitor to B.J. Due to Grant’s influence; B.J was unable to hire good professional truckers, so he hired a lot of beautiful and young female truckers. These truckers also included Cindy, played by Sherilyn Wolter, who was daughter of Grant. Another popular character of trucker was a busty blonde “Stacks”, played by Judy Landers.

Fox was also a popular character who was an honest cops and was after corrupt cops like Lobo.
